We were already working out of Richard Linklater’s building, on Figures of Speech, when he decided to do Waking Life.  This project was a dream come true.  (The nightmare came four years later.)

It was great to be able to work on what seems like the spiritual successor to Slacker.  Even better, it starred the cool little kid from Dazed and Confused, Wiley Wiggins -- all grown up!  He even worked with us as an animator.  We hired about 30 other people too who shared time on 16 Apple G3 and G4’s.  It took about a year to complete and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2001.
